Need Information On BSNL Billing System

Hi guys,
I'm planning on changing my BSNL plan to UL750 or UL1350.(not yet decided) .Im currently on home 500 and i pay 5k per year to bsnl (i think every april ). So i guess i need to pay the next 5k on april 2009. So suppose i apply for ul750 for may 2009. Will they charge 2.5k for my may 2009 bill ( because ul750 is 7.5k and home 500 is 5k so , 7.5k-5k = 2.5k)?? . And if i would like to change back to home 500 say after two months like july 09 incase im not satisfied (with the speeds etc..), would they refund some amount of that 2.5k back to me ?Since i used ul750 for two months(may and june 09) would they take [(2500/12) * 2] 415rs (approx) and return back the 2.1k(approx). I just want to know how this works..

My suggestion is that you do not go in for annual payment if you are not sure about keeping the plan.

BSNL's billing system is not the best in the world. When I started, I was on UL900+. They had taken Rs. 900 as the deposit. Then I shifted to Home 500 C. They did not refund me the Rs. 400/- of extra deposit.

I realized that Home 500 C is not sufficient, so I switched to Home 500 C+. And then BSNL charged me Rs. 100 as security deposit. Also, they charged me for last month again, even though I had paid up. So had to visit exchange twice to sort out the matter. They issued a duplicate bill but I am almost sure that next month's bill will again be messed up.

So I advise as follows. In April or May, 2009, when you are up for renewal, just change the plan and be on monthly payment basis. Try out the plan for a couple of months. If satisfied, then pay for one year.

Yes that's the fact they never want to refund the deposit so better in case of changing plan first apply it in monthly basis then after a couple of month it can be converted into yearly option.
From practical point if you did so many critical condition like changing the plan twice within three month in yearly scheme most of the possibility is present that they will make the error.I have asked this question to BSNL customer care they are saying if any one break the yearly scheme like try to change the plan after first two month or three month he/she has to pay this as monthly rate.
Example if i am in Home 500 plan in yearly From Jan'09 and suddenly in march i have changed it to UL 750 plan then they will be charge me 1000 Rs for two month and now i am applying the UL 750 from March 09 as yearly then from march again new yearly scheme will start upto March'10 and money will be adjusted which i have paid for 500 plan to BSNL.
(But i am not sure this is BSNL Customer Care told me although i hardly believe them)
My advise to go the exchange and clear all confusion.
As a friend i can only say that you are already in the best plan of BSNL so think twice before change it to UL 750.

Im planning on changing because my internet usage has been increasing since past few months. I've had to pay for extra usage almost all previous months. So i thought it would be wise to move to an unlimited plan . Most of my internet usage is web browsing ( a lot of it ) so for this ul750 is pretty good, as 256kbps is good for browsing, and also the Home 500 2-8am speeds are horrible now a days, so theres no point really.. cause during the day you just have 2.5gb and so you dont download much then the 2mbps is of no use..cause for browsing 256kbps is perfect.. the only use of 2mbps is during the night (2-8am) which has been very slow lately!!
Regarding the plan change , just4kix's suggestion requires 2 letters i guess , 1 for yearly payment to monthly payment and the other for plan change..i hope things go smooth at the exchange!!Thanks again..

@ superprash2003, Rupu is right As I faced same problem and one thread is there is this forum. I can tell you one thing that for the month of April you change your plan just to monthly basis and wait for the new plans. Then decide what to do next.

ok. will try doing just that..I guess i should wait till april or may as you said , since there could be a chance for new plans..lets hope for the best..

ok. so here's a small update.. i applied for a plan change last month.. around march 25th.. and this month when i called up the 1800 424 1600 number , they said that my plan has be shifted to ul750.. i called up there twice at two different times to confirm.. i even called up 1500 and they too told me that i am on ul750.. BUT , my portal still says that im on home 500..
Anybody faced this before?? have i really been shifted to ul750? can i use the internet without worries ?

in order to confirm ............. access the data usage detail site of BSNL then just check whether all the usage is under the free usage or something is under the billed one ............

if it's under free usage then your plan has got changed otherwise it depends .............

well its under billed obviously because the plan status in the portal shows home 500.. right now everybody says im on ul750 except the portal

i guess then it is adviseable to wait for a few more days to get it confirmed or elseif complaint about it to the local office .......................as they are the one's who can rectify your portal details .............

Please don't believe BSNL customer care. They know much less than we do. No training after they joined bsnl a few years back. Wait till the change is accommodated in the portal. You should see " provisioned " on a particular effective date,and chargeable units should be zero.

Even after that talk to the SDE (senior divisional engineer). He will be available on phone (specific request) and the right person to confirm.

Go to data.bsnl.in and under " my orders ", check the effective date. Please post the screen shot that we can have a better idea.

well..thats under USAGE.. the previous person told me to go to my orders..when i go to usage.. i do see the calender like you said.. and it shows my usage.. it even says how much i have used excluding night unlimited which again means im on home 500..
but as mentioned earlier.. i've called 2 different tel nos .. multiple times.. and they say that im on ul 750.. all i ask is my plan STATUS.. and they say ul750..strange...

Confirmed. Your plan is still to be changed. It should be zero. Be careful while you go for downloads.

i did.. enter tel no and stuff. says no records.. well.. i guess i'll have to wait..strange though that their records show that im on ul750..i called up the billing section , they said im on ul 750.. anyways..everything will be clear by next month.. when i get the bill

The worst thing is your application is yet to be processed. It need to get into the technical section to show an effective date. We give application in the administrative section. They have to counter sign it and forward it to technical section. Once it reaches there, they will forward it with an effective date for plan change. In my case, i made regular follow ups with the administrative section and only after that they passed it (it won't take more than 5 minutes).

Don't wait for the bill to come. Since your speed has not changed and usage records are not zero, it is very likely that your application has been left unattended. What i suggest is go in person (if you can find time) to the administrative section and confirm the movement.

Did you tried speaking to the administrative section. The office where you gave the application. Check with local exchange for the phone no. .I think the designation will be SDO (Senior Divisional Officer). They are quite different from whom we talk normally.
