    Default How to connect Huawei SmartAX MT882 modem to Netgear wireless router WGR614v7?

    I have the following setup components:
    - Huawei SmartAX MT882 modem from BSNL dataone broadband
    - Netgear wireless router WGR614v7
    - Windows XP desktop (P4, 3.2GHz)
    - Windows XP laptop (Intel centrino M 1.8 GHz)

    My connection/configuration works fine from the modem directly to the desktop/laptop. I am able to access internet. Now, I need to connect the modem to the wireless router so that I can surf the net from both laptop and desktop. I am not able to do it.
    I have tried the following, but these do not work:
    - tried the Netgear wizard setup
    - tried the steps exactly as in:
    http://www.indiabroadband.net/bsnl-b...ork-guide.html
    - tried myself to configure the modem and router with no luck

    Can you kindly help in this regard?

    Lightbulb U can try this □□□□

    □ Connect u r modem's RJ45 cable directly into the uplink port of the w.router.

    □ Connect ur pc's network port to one of the lan port of the w.router.

    □ If laptop is wireless then ur w.router will automatically detect after configuration.

    □ If u need it wired then connect a similar cable to a free lan port of the w.router from the laptop's ethernet port.

    Now open routers IP Address through internet explorer ... type http://192.168.1.1

    Use admin for username and password for password and continue configuration. Go for a PPPoE Connection

    Try all this after resetting ur router. Power on and press reset for 20 - 30 seconds. Turn off and turn on.

    Question How to LAN with wireless router?

    I have similar setup.
    - Huawei SmartAX MT800 modem + BSNL dataone broadband
    - Netgear wireless router WGR614v7
    - Desktop: Windows XP/Linux, with 2 network cards. [connected to Router by wire]
    - Laptop:Windows XP laptop [Connected wireless]

    Internet is working fine, from both the systems. But I couldn't access each other's shared folders. Simply, LAN is not working.

    Before buying the Wireless router, I used a crossover cable to connect the computers for sharing internet & exchanging files.

    Now with my netgear wireless router, apart from sharing internet connection, Is it possible to wirelessly network my desktop and laptop to exchange files etc?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Raguanu

    I haven't tried connecting the laptop to router using cable. I'll try that.

    BTW, laptop is detecting wireless connection and Internet is working perfectly fine. It's just that I couldn't make the computers talk to each other.

    Thankx.

    Remember all systems should be in the same workgroup... alsp do the network setup wizard .... Try pinging both ways ...
    If Ip address is set to automatic option then goto command prompt and type ipconfig /all to know the ip address of that particular system and then ping .....

    Default Issue resolved

    Thanks coolday.

    The issue is resolved now. I came to know I had disabled some network related services in my desktop. Once I enabled them everything is working fine.

    Thanks for the help.

    Hi

    I have a NETGEAR ADSL2 MODEM (DM111P) and subscribed BSNL broadban in chennai. Modem is configured as PPOE connection and internet works fine if I connect my laptop with modem (via cable).

    Later I bought a wireless router (Netgear WGRR614v7). I configured (used the wizard also followed the steps shared in manual / forums here). but dont get internet connectywhen i connect the laptop via router (wired / wireless).

    I see one problem here as the router wizard detects Dynamic IP address (type of internet connection) instead of PPoE.
    My modem IP : 192.168.100.1
    DCHP = ON
    Subnet mask = 255.255.255.0
    ADSL Setting :
    VPI = 0; VCI = 35
    protocol =PPoE Bridging
    MTU Size =1492

    Router setting :
    IPaddress = 192.168.10.1
    Get dynamic IP address
    Get DNS automatic
    MAC = default

    Otiose Banter: Airtel Beetel Modem + Netgear WGR614 Wifi Router

    check this blog for guidance.
    Dm111P settings seems OK.
    Hintsa) In TCP/IP obtain IP address automatically.
    in both desktop and laptop.
    (b)Enable DHCP in modem. What is the range you have given?
    (c) try modem in "alwayson" Mode " PPP/PPPoE not bridged.
    Compare Ip address''s given in my earlier post.

    You can attach pictures etc as annexure.
