    Default SATA and SSD combined

Data storage is one of the most important part of a computer. The process of transferring files/data from data storage to the system unit is always taken into consideration. Advancement was made, then SSD was created. Solid State Drive (SSD) is an storage device of a Desktop Computer. Unlike Hard Disk Drive (HDD), it is not made out of electromechanical disk but rather generated with integrated circuit that assembled as memory. Compared to HDD, SSD's is more resistant to physical shock, have lower access time and less latency.

On the other hand, Serial Advance Technology Attachment(SATA) is the a cable called bus that serves as an interface between the computer's mother board and the drive. SATA is considered to be the fastest in terms of data transmission compared to Parallel ATA (PATA).

Combination of SATA and SSD can perfectly perform its task in computer operation because both succeeded each innovation.

Thanks for this detailed summary on SATA and SSD. Even though SSDs are superior to SATA in many ways, the best option would be to go for SSHDs (Solid State Hybrid Drives) which is a perfect combination of the performance level of SSDs and the capacity of a mechanical drive. They are bigger than SSD and faster than a mechanical one.

To get advantages of both SSD and a mechanical drive it is common to use both the drives in a PC. In this case SSD is ussed for storing files where speed matters like system files, programs etc. Mechanical drive on the other hand is used to store other files for which quick access is not required like a collection of images.

SSD and SATA doesn't compete because they are a perfect combination in terms of data storing in a Computer System's overall performance.

SSD is a storage device while SATA is a bus/wire that connects SSD to the motherboard. The two coordinates with each other and absence of SATA nor PATA creates an error to the computer. Computer will not work if there's no Storage Device attached, and the attachment is made possible by SATA/PATA.

Thank you for sharing this! I intend to buy a new Desktop soon and I was having some diffculty figuring out what was the best Hard Disk I could chose and right now I decide that I will go for something like 120GB of a combination of SATA and SSD. And I will buy an external hard disk to save everything I don't need for the moment and I will use only a 120GB. I don't need more than that, and with that disk my computer will process data much more faster than the other kind of Hard Disks!

What do you think about my idea?

I think you have a selected a perfect combination of Computer components. Having 120GB is definitely a smart choice. Having knowledge about SSD is based on my researches and because I've a little knowledge about Computers and its components then I have understood how each component processes. I am also looking for the best one to buy and I am currently searching for the perfect one for me.
