On Feb 17 an update will hit Microsoft's site and Windows update, Windows Activation Technologies (WAT) for Windows 7 to detect illegal copies of windows 7 earlier which was known as Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA).

Microsoft said the update will detect illegal copies of windows 7 installed and cracked using activation cracks which are in a number of more than 70.

But the update has been tagged as voluntary which gives you the right whether to install it or not when it hits the Windows Update. If the update is installed and if its a cracked copy then it will display a black background and notifications will be displayed stating that the copy of windows 7 is not genuine.
